DETAILS
There are "horses for courses", and Arie Luyendyk was no exception when it came to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Always fast, and typically bringing a car home with a high finish, Arie needed the last ingredient, more power. In 1990, Arie got his wish with the gold standard of the era, the Chevrolet-Ilmor engine. With that, Arie and Team Sheirson were able to put together a solid month. On race day Arie showed his true pace, by not only winning his first Indianapolis '500', but to make it the fastest in history to that date. This early model Simpson Shark helmet, is adorned with the colors of his home in The Netherlands.
